Coastal Adventures: Making Memories with Omie and Opa

A big milestone of our trip was our 3 week stay in Half Moon Bay. It was nothing short of magical, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable experiences. We were incredibly fortunate to stay with some dear family friends that Will had known since his primary/elementary school days. Their stunning property, fondly known as Worm Farm, provided the perfect home base.

Worm Farm, nestled under fragrant eucalyptus trees, with a beautiful main house and expansive field offered plenty of space for our trailer. Gracie had a great time working on her fitness levels chasing animals and running wild, clocking in about three miles on her more energetic (some may say naughty) days. Bruce and Sandy, our gracious hosts, welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts. Their generosity allowed us to spend valuable time on the coast, a luxury we might not have afforded otherwise. Their extensive RV traveling experience was both useful and inspiring.

What made our stay at Worm Farm even more special was its close proximity to our beloved Omie and Opa. Daily visits, fun outings, and shared moments of exploration highlighted the importance of our decision to move into an RV and spend extended periods with loved ones. The smiles and laughter from the ever-stoic Maggie were the cherry on top.

Our days were filled with firsts and plenty of sand: building sandcastles, getting our fingernails, toenails, ears, hair, you name it, covered in sand, and close encounters with the barking residents of Half Moon Bay… the sea lions. Tilly and Alice had an exciting time on their paddle-board  adventures, even getting followed by some curious seals! Tilly’s strider bike skills reached new heights at the local pump track (a pump track is a purpose-built track for cycling. It has a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features), and she also enjoyed her first haircut experience and lending a hand to local fishermen as they pulled clams from the deep sand.

Our time in Half Moon Bay flew by in the blink of an eye. Tilly’s hair even curlier from the sea air, Maggies somehow straighter (?), we indulged in delicious foods and treats, but soon it was time to head north. Our next challenge: tackling the iconic Golden Gate bridge, with our big ol’ rig.

This trip was a heartfelt reminder of the pure joy that comes from spending time with family and friends, creating stronger bonds between generations. We can’t express enough gratitude or love with Omie and Opa for hosting our tornado of a family, embracing all our antics from screams of joy to cries of “missing out.”

As we pack up the trailer and wave goodbye to the coast, we already miss Omie and Opa and look forward to coming to visit again. See you soon xx
